What is the Heart of the Community Campaign?
For many years, the residents of the Oak Lodge area have worked to create a welcoming space at the heart of the community, one that is open to all who live and work in our neighborhoods. The successful completion and grand opening of the new Oak Lodge Library, Concord Park, and the Concord Community Center have made this dream a reality. However, our work is not done.
The Heart of the Community Campaign offers an opportunity for members of the Oak Lodge Neighborhoods to join together in funding a community space located in the heart of our community.
The Concord Park and Concord Community Center opened in October 2025, initially offering limited programming. The North Clackamas Parks and Recreation District (NCPRD) started with free morning drop-in programs, as well as fee-based recreational activities available during the day and in the evenings.
The Concord Community Center and Park is owned and operated by the North Clackamas Parks and Recreation District (NCPRD). Unfortunately, NCPRD does not have the necessary dollars to fully fund Community Center improvements and programs. Many of the spaces within the Center, such as the original classrooms, are unimproved and cannot be used for recreational or athletic programs without significant improvements. While the drop-in program provides an opportunity for people to gather without charge, additional funding is needed to start new recreational and athletic programs.
The Heart of the Community Campaign objective is to provide additional dollars to fund new high-value recreational and athletic programs while NCPRD seeks longer term funding.

On Saturday, October 10th, the community celebrates the first anniversary of the Concord Park and Community Center and adjacent Oak Lodge Library with our second annual fundraising event. All funds raised at this fall event will be directed toward improving the facilities and enhancing athletic and recreational programs. This support is vital for the growth of the new Community Center, where community members can gather to visit, study, work, learn, play, and celebrate in the Heart of the Community.
